The Best Android Phones to Watch for in 2013

As we get ready to say, "goodbye" to 2012 and, "hello" to 2013, everyone is curious about what the future of android phones will be. The Droid DNA and Samsung Galaxy Note have set the bar high and have closed out this year''s smartphone marketplace, leaving plenty of room for new contenders to step up to the plate and make their mark. So far, the outlook for androids in 2013 is looking good - Apple isn''t the only one who knows how to make a great mobile devices! Here''s a sneak preview of what you can expect from android smartphones in the upcoming year.

The Top 5 Most Anticipated Android Phones to Watch for in 2013

1. Samsung Galaxy S4 - Much like with the iPhone 5, there is already a great deal of buzz going around with regards to the Samsung Galaxy S4 which may make its grand debut within the first quarter of 2013. This device is already shaping up to be one of the best android phones of the upcoming year as it features a truly massive, clear-image, and extremely high quality 4.7 inch, 440ppi screen. In addition to this, the S4 also boasts some major processor upgrades and a variety of design options.

2. BlackBerry 10 - It has been confirmed at the BlackBerry 10 will be available for purchase in the first quarter of 2013. Although the BlackBerry hasn''t been a huge name in android phones for awhile, it would appear that this newest addition to the family is something that is definitely worth taking a look at. It is believed that the company will first release a BlackBerry 10 that features a fully virtual keyboard, followed by a model with a physical keyboard - a staple in the BlackBerry devices. Expect some really great hardware and software updates to improve speed and performance, putting a new spin on an old favorite.

3. Nokia Lumina 940 - Everyone is wondering about the fate of Nokia. Will it last through the year? Although the Nokia Lumina 920 is a really great smartphone which features Windows Phone 8, a fantastic phone, and powerful hardware, it is simply not as popular as some of the other big brands. In spite of this, the Nokia Lumina 940, which will be coming out in 2013, is expected to be another really solid and very affordable android release. The device will feature Windows Phone 8.5, an incredible camera (quite possibly the best since the PureView 808) at 35MP, and will be available as a far thinner and lighter model than the 920. The phone''s main problem is that Windows Phone is sill not delivering the highest quality apps, which means that even though the Lumina 940 has the gusto and power to run some great games, there might not be many options for users. It would seem that the fate of Nokia may lay in the hands of the Windows Phone platform.

4. The Facebook Phone - You read that right - Facebook will be releasing a smartphone of its won in joint with HTC in 2013. The recent surge in popularity of social networking sites, after all, made the advent of this smartphone almost inevitable. The device will feature Facebook''s own version of a mobile operating system and dual core processor, which is rumored to be based upon the android Gingerbread mobile OS. This, however, is unconfirmed. The Facebook phone will employ an HD screen (1280 x 720), is blue in color, and will come with automatic Facebook feeds and uploads with integrated notification and contact buttons. Sure, it''s true that Facebook mobile apps allow any smartphone user to access the networking site and stay in touch with friends, however, none of these are quite as neat and trendy as the Facebook phone itself.

5. HTC EVO 4G LTE 2 - One of 2012''s greatest android phones of the year was undoubtedly the HTC EVO with 4G LTE support. Although Sprint''s network was small at the time, it''s 4G LTE network is projected to expand greatly in the 2013 year, adding improved processing abilities to the 2013 edition. Although there is little known about the EVO 4G LTE 2, it is expected that the the display quality will be improved, the design will be thinner, and battery life and storage space will be expanded. Given these alleged upgrades, the EVO 2 could be the full package!

So will any of these 5 highly anticipated android smartphones surpass the popularity of the iPhone5 (or the rumored iPhone 6 which may just appear before the dawn of 2014)? Only time will tell which will rise to the top and be crowned the best android of 2013, but you can certainly count on the fact that these are the 5 that you should keep your eye on in the upcoming months. It’s also time to upgrade your internet access, so keep a look out for our next post about that.
